What We’re Actually Buying for Baby Number Three

May 21, 2019 Leave a Comment

We are officially prepping for baby number three! So far, we’ve had one baby boy and one baby girl, so to say we’re stocked with baby gear of all color combos would be an understatement! But while hand-me-downs will get us very far this time around, there are a few things we’ll need to add before the arrival of another sweet family addition. There’s also a few things we like for each baby to have of their own, too! So what exactly are we adding to our third and (maybe) final registry?

  1. Double stroller – We actually had a double stroller right after our second baby was born. But by then our oldest was already halfway to four, and honestly it was more hassle than help. So we ditched it for a brand new Graco single rider to spice things up. But this time around the age gap between babies will be much smaller. And our ever-so lazy toddler loves a good stroll when we’re on the go. We have our eyes on a few different options, I’ll be sure to share later!
  2. Infant car seat – We do indeed have the seat my baby girl used just two short years ago. But overtime the materials in carseats begin to minimize. And although this seat is far from expired, we love being able to give each of our babies their safest ride possible in the those early months. So baby number three will get her very own car seat for all her travels!
  3. Sound machine – Once baby arrives, it’s hard to believe this household of five will ever be quiet enough for fussy newborn naps. I don’t like to add to many extras to our bedtime routines. The extras leave too much room for error and sleep fighting. But we are absolutely adding a sound machine to the nursery for baby number three in hopes of blocking out some of the crazy around here!
  4. Newborn clothing – Big sister definitely has a boatload of hand-me-downs in her closet, I certainly didn’t skimp on my first princess. But my husband and I both agree we want our newest bundle to have her own set of hospital outfits. Baby three may be our second baby girl, but she will be special in her very own way! And we’d like to make sure we recognize that with her own “welcome to the world” attire.
  5. Swaddles – Alongside her own stash of newborn clothes, we also want to give her some new swaddle blankets and wraps. Between the diaper blowouts, the milk spit-up, and the endless hours of being stretched, we’re making sure our third baby comes out to a few fresh-out-the-bag baby swaddles.
  6. Baby bottles – You can check out my favorite bottles (and a good formula-feeding laugh) here. But for obvious sanitation reasons, we’re retiring our previous stash and buying new for baby number three!
  7. Stashes – What a funny word to list here, but for us, it’s super important that we start her diaper and formula stashes early! Balancing the budget of pricey diapers and even pricier formula with two other snack-loving, clothes-outgrowing kids may be tough. So this time around, we’ve decided to start purchasing these items before baby girl arrives. We have a love for Huggies! And we’ll start by purchasing sizes 1 and 2 sometime during the fifth month of my pregnancy. Notice we aren’t buying size newborn! My second baby was a whopping 8 pounds 10 ounces, and actually only wore newborn diapers for about two to three weeks! As for the formula – I’m not planning to fail, although I have heavily failed to breastfeed and pump twice. I have a few tricks up my sleeve that will hopefully make breastfeeding finally work for me! (I’ll share them soon.) But the likelihood of baby number three needing formula is HIGH, so we’ll probably start purchasing a can with each grocery trip around month six of pregnancy!

If you’re also prepping for a new baby after having one or even a few already, welcome to the club! But for you first time mommas, make sure you check out two posts that will serve you just right. I’ve got newborn essentials and infant must-haves just a click away!

Instagram post 17859477349617188 Casually trying to delete some photos in my phone and I came across this gem. πŸ˜‚ Nothing like my boy in zebra pants and Ava at her best. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ–€

Instagram post 18079160338145089 Here it is, my best angle of the night. I've been wanting to post this photo for two days now, which is something I really don't feel often lately. But I haven't, because I don't always look like this.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This is before the food, the drinks, and the cake. My hip is jutted out to add a little curve. My arm is propped up to look a little thinner. And my hand is covering an inch or two of my waist. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Chances are if you see any other shots of me, I won't look like this. And chances are I hate that picture, or that pose, or that angle, or anything else I can find to hate. Because I'm struggling heavily with this postpartum body. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I've been comparing myself to other women for weeks now. Admiring women who had babies and got right back into their jeans. Wondering why I didn't carry smaller when I was pregnant, why my belly hasn't gone down more than it has. They say time is the biggest thief, but comparison is mine. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I've been mean to myself, y'all. I've been looking at my pictures and pinpointing what I hate. I've been teasing myself about my clothes not fitting and the sizes I need to order now. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So no, obviously I don't love what I see and in the mirror lately. I'm struggling to balance it all - focusing on my three babes AND focusing on myself. But what I hate the most is that I'm letting my physical image effect me like this. I prayed for the days I'm living now, and I'm letting my body squash my happiness. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So I'm gonna keep trying to get closer to my goals. I'm gonna give myself every minute that my kids make available. Time to build my strength - on the inside and the out - and time to feel healthy and well again. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But I certainly can't hate myself like this in the meantime. And I certainly can't hate myself if I never get back to where I was. So here's my best angle, a photo that I do like. A photo that gives me a lil' hope that soon I'll like what I see more and more - even when my arm isn't propped and my body isn't posed. But I just couldn't share this one without being honest. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It took me two days to share this the way I wanted to, but ya girl made it. πŸ–€
Instagram post 18046036981203807 I know, I know. So many pretty story snaps yesterday ... and now for the final Disney hoorah. ⁣

Reality may have won this time. πŸ™ˆ But if mama ain't doing ^this, we ain't gettin' it done. πŸ–€
Instagram post 17916612808365264 Took zero family photos yesterday, so Gia Vanessa is gonna represent for her first Thanksgiving. 😊 So thankful for my baby girl this year - the Perez family grand finale. πŸ’›
Instagram post 18115872568040940 Reasons I could use a little retinol in my life: this Florida sun, three exhausting babes, and coffee that just can't keep up. πŸ€ͺ⁣

That's why I'm turning to @yeouthskincare Retinol Eye Cream. With hyaluronic acid, caffeine, and green tea, it's fighting to keep my under eye bright and crisp. It goes on smooth, and it never leaves me feeling greasy. ⁣

Three babies before 30 can take quite a toll - so I'm letting Yeouth take the reins on my youth. 🌿
Instagram post 17927593984336334 It's Friday night. Your kids are dressed - and slightly coordinated - for the first time in weeks. You're ready to hit a pic like no one's business.

And here it is, my big 3. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ–€

Instagram post 18115628815037161 I'm a little too tired for the heartfelt spiels today. So instead - here she is, my beautiful little mama. πŸ–€
Instagram post 17862379945576077 A couple of crazies always looking for trouble - and a watermelon flip flop that just won't stay between the right toes. πŸ€—β€οΈ
Instagram post 17842687624826749 And that's a wrap on another baseball season! Things are changing around here. My boy is starting to experience real wins and real losses. He's feeling true success and true disappointment. I'm a little out of my comfort zone, helping him navigate this new maturity. Baby mom feels natural, kid mom feels foreign. πŸ™ˆ But isn't that where we grow most? 'Cause I can't wait to see the kind of character this builds in him. ⚾️❀️
