Luckily, when we bought our home we chose one with enough bedrooms to give us a little wiggle room. So when the doctor confirmed that baby number three was on her way, we knew our biggest purchase would actually be a spacious new third-row vehicle.
We had previously owned a Chevrolet Equinox. My husband worked for Chevy for about five years, so we’ve been comfortably and confidently driving them since we first started having babies. But even with just two kids in tow, we seemed to already be outgrowing our beloved Equinox far before the baby even arrived.
First, we shopped around a bit. Now that my husband had left the car business we weren’t confined to Chevy’s for the first time in a while. There are so many beautiful third-row SUVs all within the same price bracket. So we really considered every spec, every available option, and every dollar sign. But ironically enough, we were eventually set on the 2019 Chevy Traverse.
This car guys, THIS CAR. I am so obsessed with our decision! Every family member is feeling entirely spoiled by all this car has to offer us. It has a little something for everyone to enjoy while we’re on the road.
Once we had seen the option of captain’s chairs, we knew we just had to have them. While we do lose one (small) seat inside, we gain so much leg room and mobility for the rear passengers. Once baby three comes, we plan to move our oldest to the third row. With this style of chairs, my big kid has such a smooth transition from the front to the back. He doesn’t have to climb over my seats with dirty, smelly shoes. I don’t even have to tug on any handles or even incline a seat to make way for him. And better yet, the size of the third row is suitable for kids AND adults.
If you’re in need of a third-row vehicle, you probably need to travel with at least one stroller. Soon we’ll be welcoming a double stroller into our vehicle, alongside extra pairs of clothes for diaper blowouts, baseball gear for Saturday morning games, and a hundred other items we’ll slowly accumulate. The Chevy Traverse offers trunk space that suits all of these needs even with the third row in use. Better yet, it offers a HUGE hidden storage compartment below the trunk surface that can double as an insulated cooler – almost doubling its surface space.
As our Equinox aged, we noticed we were seriously lacking in the technology department. The Chevy Traverse offers four USB ports for all of your tech charging needs. The speaker system offers BlueTooth compatibility for music as well as GPS display – all while your phone is in use. And for these Florida summers? Rear climate control with four – YES FOUR- rear air vents. At last, my babies can cool down MUCH quicker after our days at the park. And for mom dad, the front seats are equipped with seat warmers and dual air controls, so hubby can blast his cold air will I enjoy my most favored 72 and cool. Last but certainly not lease, the Traverse offers remote start, remote trunk-door control, and rear and side sensors for safe driving.
Big purchases can be scary when you’re in the midst of even bigger family changes – like a new baby bundle. Check out the Chevy Traverse and take a load off of at least one decision us moms of many have to make. It’s been quite the perfect third-row vehicle for my tribe!
