It seems like these days gift shopping primarily takes place on the internet. And while two-day shipping bonuses can help quite a bit when you’re last-minute shopping, sometimes it just doesn’t cut it. It can be stressful, wandering the aisles, searching for a last-minute gift that doesn’t seem so “on the fly.” So what’s my Mother’s Day go-to gift? A good book! So many leading ladies are publishing books that encourage women to conquer more. Whether they’re cookbooks, fashion finds, or self-help pieces, a good book can make it’s way into you’re leading lady’s heart.
It may be the teacher in me, but a good book just eases me on the nights I seem most restless. Not only are they great for reading, but books add cute and quaint details to any room in her home. And an added bonus? Who needs to pull out their phones to search for what they need, when it’s printed in a super handy spine smack-dab in the middle of her living room? So I bring you five super affordable, super enjoyable books that you can find almost anywhere for that last-minute moment.
The Magnolia Story by Chip and Joanna Gaines
Maybe she’s fallen in love with this HGTV duo, maybe she hasn’t. Either way, this love story hits home for any lady. She can reminisce on her lifetime of love, she can dream of what her future may hold. It just stirs up all of the very best Mother’s Day emotions.
Magnolia Table: A Collection of Recipes For Gathering by Joanna Gaines
All I know is if she hasn’t yet begun swooning over Jo, this is the start of a new love. I love a good cookbook. In fact, I’m building a small supply to keep right in my kitchen for days when I need the most help. I’m not the finest cook, but whether your girl is or isn’t, you can never have too many southern recipes!
Balancing in Heels: My Journey to Health, Happiness, and Making It All Work by Kristin Cavallari
Not only do I love this chick, but this book covers just about everything your loved one might have on her mind. Kristin talks fashion, business, health and nutrition. She encourages you, she inspires you, she shares her story. It’s page after page of really good stuff. I fell in love with this book on my very first read, and I refer back to it every now and then when I need a little inspo.
Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes
I would be shocked if your lady wasn’t already obsessed with at least one of Shonda’s shows – Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, or How to Get Away With Murder. I’m obsessed with all three. This woman is storming through women empowerment. I hear she serves up some serious motivation in this book, so it’s first up on my Summer reading list.
Cravings by Chrissy Teigen
So we covered southern food, but did we cover scrumptious food? Chrissy and her recipes are known for soulful, downright dirty food. She doesn’t go light and she doesn’t skimp. So if you’re hoping to instill a little more flavor into your momma’s kitchen, grab this book ASAP!
