I’ve got two sweet babes, but I’ve only ever had one (really awesome) gender reveal. I guess back when my oldest was just getting started in my belly, gender reveals weren’t as big as they are now. I didn’t really think of having a reveal at the time, instead my hubby and I just let the doctor tell us in the ultrasound room. But by the time I was pregnant with sweet pea number two, a gender reveal was high on the to-do list.
So, we had a Krispy Kreme gender reveal! Among the hundreds of reveal ideas I’ve seen while skimming Pinterest, I must say, a cream-filled donut just might be my favorite. I mean, not only does a pregnant lady get to indulge, but it’s one of the few reveal ideas where everyone can actually participate in the big event. Wondering why I didn’t share this before? I wasn’t blogging at the time! So I thought I’d throw it back to a time I would’ve loved to share.
The Setup
My sister-in-law handled this perfect little reveal, her usual, since she pretty much handles everything in my life. That girl is a gem. She ordered two-dozen donuts from Krispy Kreme, and if you didn’t know that they can fill those babies up with pink or blue cream, well now you do. And for no extra charge! We invited our closest family and friends to Olive Garden and reserved one huge table, I really wanted everyone to be together. We had a beautiful family dinner, full of pasta, breadsticks and their ever-so delicious Alfredo sauce. Everyone took their best guess at the gender, we talked about the what-ifs of a handsome hunk or a pretty princess, we really just spent time as a family.
If you can’t tell by the attire, my husband and I were obviously team girl. Well, my husband may have been a little persuaded towards that decision. I was yearning so deeply for a girl, but I had spent the entire day talking myself down from the excitement.
I love my baby boy, in fact, with my first pregnancy I was yearning just as deep for a boy. A boy first, then two girls, just like my momma’s lineup. It was always the dream. I had my momma’s boy right beside me, a boy to raise right and bless the heart of a woman one day. And now I hoped for a girl, but not just for big bows and pink parties. I wanted a baby girl to raise strong and hopeful, a little girl who’d grow to be a woman that could change the whole world. I wanted a daughter to guide through life and through motherhood. I wanted that lifetime friendship, that mini-me experience, that enchanting bond between momma and daughter.
The Reaction
Before I knew it, after a dinner spent dreaming, it was time. We passed out the donuts to everyone at the table, which is a bit funny considering everyone was too busy watching my husband and I to actually partake in the festivity. One big donut bite, and it happened – PINK CREAM.
That face up there, that is the face of a woman who couldn’t believe her God brought her one strong baby boy and now, one strong baby girl. That is the face of a woman who thought she couldn’t possibly deserve the joy she felt in that moment. A baby boy beside me, a baby girl in my belly. Tears, crazy faces, it was all one enormously happy blur.
I must say, I adore Krispy Kreme for offering such a genuine idea. To be a part of precious occasions like this for a lot of families, that’s a winner in my book. For the price of two-dozen donuts we were able to put together the sweetest gender reveal (literally) that I could’ve hoped for. A day’s notice was all it took, and all of my loved ones could celebrate our sweet baby bundle right there with us. This is absolutely another day I’d love to live one-hundred times over again.
And to my sister-in-law, thank you one-hundred times over again.
OMG this was the cutest gender reveal!!! First of all, Olive Garden is my favorite restaurant and chocolate cream filled are my favorite donuts and secondly, congrats on your baby girl!! I had a baby girl in December and it’s so fun having a little mini me!
Thank you! This was a bit of a throwback, my baby girl is a little over one year now. But I loveeee love loved this reveal.
