Ava and Her Baby Bling Bows

July 23, 2017 Comments : 3

Ava and I have fallen in deep, obsessive, over-the-moon love with Baby Bling Bows. You may have seen an ad or two of theirs pop up on your Instagram feed, and if you have a princess of your own and scrolled right past it, you have made a BIG mistake.

From the moment I knew the sweet baby in my belly was a sweet baby girl, I imagined ruffled rompers, floral blankets, and extravagant baby bows. Before Ava was even born I began her collection. In fact, bows were my absolute favorite baby item to splurge on while I nested. I kept track of all the colors she had so I could keep up with her growing wardrobe. I even tried to vary up the styles to keep things exciting.

Unfortunately, I ended up wasting so much money and so many of these bows. You see, my sweet pea has a bit of a large noggin. Just seconds after she made her way out of my belly the doctor said, “Wow, that’s a bit of a big head.” Not the greatest comment he could have made, but I was mid-cesarean and didn’t have the strength to think too much into it. By the time Ava was three months old most of the infant bows and headbands I purchased were already too small. That is, all except the Baby Bling pieces.

Baby Bling offers so many adorable headband styles from Knots, to Bows, and even Skinnys. Their website also features apparel items like fanny packs and tights, but we haven’t ventured that far yet! Baby Bling Bows are extremely soft and stretchy. They easily wrap around Ava’s head without leaving harsh indents on her fragile baby forehead. They are so comfortable for babies that my recent toy-grabber has yet to try to yank it off. The material reminds me of a woman’s stocking: soft and stretchy yet super durable. The flexibility is key to these headbands as they practically grow with your baby!

Ava’s current collection includes Classic Knots, a Trimmed Knot, and a Sailor Knot. The Classic Knot is the thinnest and stretchiest of the bunch, and was our original go-to purchase. The bow doesn’t actually untie, which is a plus in my book! That would just leave me with the chance to completely ruin it. I can’t tell you how many times I have untied a hair bow only to be left completely lost on how to get it back to its original adorable tie. The color options are ENDLESS, but a few of our favorites are Lemon, Mauve, Black, Ballet Pink, and Grey. She has been wearing these since she was a newborn and they are still going strong. Talk about durability!

The Sailor Knot is the same material as the Classic Knot, just a touch thicker since they are double layered. Like the Classics, you also can’t untie this style either. Ava has this headband in Lilac and the color is even prettier than I hoped for. Baby Bling does really well with matching the names of colors to the actual fabric, I haven’t been let down yet. I love this Knot for  more subtle accessory than the classic bow!

The last of Ava’s collection is the Trimmed Knot, which she has in a brown leopard print with red trim. OBSESSED. Even her Daddy is obsessed. This style is the thickest and most firm of the bunch. But still wonderfully perfect for her somewhat bigger head, and much more comfortable than other brands we have tried. This headband adds a serious wow factor for your most lavish of days.

The company is ran by moms who know firsthand what best suits babies, which makes me an even bigger fan. They have shipping for as low as 1.99$, a treat compared to usual online shipping charges and delivery is rather quick. They have end-of season semi-annual sales where you can score serious deals. And their social media outlets consistently feature cute headbands and even cuter babies.

So what’s next for Ava’s collection? Let’s just say we have our eyes on a few
more earth tones.

Instagram post 17859477349617188 Casually trying to delete some photos in my phone and I came across this gem. 😂 Nothing like my boy in zebra pants and Ava at her best. 🤦🏻‍♀️🖤
Instagram post 17853903199689584 All that beauty in the world and somehow I got enough right here to last a lifetime. 🥰
Instagram post 18079160338145089 Here it is, my best angle of the night. I've been wanting to post this photo for two days now, which is something I really don't feel often lately. But I haven't, because I don't always look like this.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This is before the food, the drinks, and the cake. My hip is jutted out to add a little curve. My arm is propped up to look a little thinner. And my hand is covering an inch or two of my waist. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Chances are if you see any other shots of me, I won't look like this. And chances are I hate that picture, or that pose, or that angle, or anything else I can find to hate. Because I'm struggling heavily with this postpartum body. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I've been comparing myself to other women for weeks now. Admiring women who had babies and got right back into their jeans. Wondering why I didn't carry smaller when I was pregnant, why my belly hasn't gone down more than it has. They say time is the biggest thief, but comparison is mine. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I've been mean to myself, y'all. I've been looking at my pictures and pinpointing what I hate. I've been teasing myself about my clothes not fitting and the sizes I need to order now. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So no, obviously I don't love what I see and in the mirror lately. I'm struggling to balance it all - focusing on my three babes AND focusing on myself. But what I hate the most is that I'm letting my physical image effect me like this. I prayed for the days I'm living now, and I'm letting my body squash my happiness. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So I'm gonna keep trying to get closer to my goals. I'm gonna give myself every minute that my kids make available. Time to build my strength - on the inside and the out - and time to feel healthy and well again. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But I certainly can't hate myself like this in the meantime. And I certainly can't hate myself if I never get back to where I was. So here's my best angle, a photo that I do like. A photo that gives me a lil' hope that soon I'll like what I see more and more - even when my arm isn't propped and my body isn't posed. But I just couldn't share this one without being honest. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It took me two days to share this the way I wanted to, but ya girl made it. 🖤
Instagram post 18046036981203807 I know, I know. So many pretty story snaps yesterday ... and now for the final Disney hoorah. ⁣
⁣⁣
Reality may have won this time. 🙈 But if mama ain't doing ^this, we ain't gettin' it done. 🖤
Instagram post 17916612808365264 Took zero family photos yesterday, so Gia Vanessa is gonna represent for her first Thanksgiving. 😊 So thankful for my baby girl this year - the Perez family grand finale. 💛
Instagram post 18115872568040940 Reasons I could use a little retinol in my life: this Florida sun, three exhausting babes, and coffee that just can't keep up. 🤪⁣
⁣
That's why I'm turning to @yeouthskincare Retinol Eye Cream. With hyaluronic acid, caffeine, and green tea, it's fighting to keep my under eye bright and crisp. It goes on smooth, and it never leaves me feeling greasy. ⁣
⁣
Three babies before 30 can take quite a toll - so I'm letting Yeouth take the reins on my youth. 🌿
Instagram post 17927593984336334 It's Friday night. Your kids are dressed - and slightly coordinated - for the first time in weeks. You're ready to hit a pic like no one's business.

And here it is, my big 3. 🤦🏻‍♀️🖤
Instagram post 18115665973055014 When the babies are away, momma will play. 🍷
Instagram post 18115628815037161 I'm a little too tired for the heartfelt spiels today. So instead - here she is, my beautiful little mama. 🖤
Instagram post 17862379945576077 A couple of crazies always looking for trouble - and a watermelon flip flop that just won't stay between the right toes. 🤗❤️
Instagram post 17842687624826749 And that's a wrap on another baseball season! Things are changing around here. My boy is starting to experience real wins and real losses. He's feeling true success and true disappointment. I'm a little out of my comfort zone, helping him navigate this new maturity. Baby mom feels natural, kid mom feels foreign. 🙈 But isn't that where we grow most? 'Cause I can't wait to see the kind of character this builds in him. ⚾️❤️
