I can’t take credit for finding this adorably glamorous company. In fact, I was at a first-birthday party for my husband’s coworker’s baby girl – I know, that’s a mouthful – when I got my first peek at one of Gems by Laura‘s baby bracelets. The birthday girl had her wrist wrapped in the sweetest little glimmering beaded bracelet, so I went straight to her momma to get the details. And that was just the start to the newest accessory that joined Ava’s collection.
I was so eager to receive this piece in the mail. Ava’s hair hasn’t entirely grown in, and she seems to yank hair bows out before I can even get them clipped and centered. So any shot at an accessory she’ll actually take to is a shot worth taking for this momma.
The Look
When the piece first arrived, I was already blown away just from the looks of it. The beads shine and shimmer in the sunlight, and the gold pieces look genuine to any eye. The size of the beads don’t look overwhelming for Ava’s tiny wrist, yet they’re still large enough to add noticeable charm to any look. The entire bracelet line by Gems by Laura can be perfectly stacked on any wrist, so just a few pieces can make a dozen different arrangements to top off any outfit!
The Structure
The materials Laura uses are definitely high quality. I was especially nervous about the tiny clasp of the bracelet. When I first tried to put the piece on Ava, my four-week-old manicure made it tough for my nails to really grasp the itty-bitty clamp. Luckily, the clasp was strong enough to hold through my struggle, and I was able to easily wrap it around Ava’s little wrist and secure it. Ava occasionally tugs on the bracelet, which at first made me jump with worry. I was so afraid she’d yank it just like she does her hair bows! But the bracelet has held up incredibly well against my ambitious tot, and she gets more and more use to having it on every day. The string doesn’t stretch, which I absolutely prefer so it doesn’t amuse her as she could pull and tug over and over again. The bracelet also has a few different notches, so rather than having to worry about Ava growing out of it too quickly, the piece will actually grow with her!
We chose the Glacier Baby Bracelet (below) to begin with, which features 4-millimeter beads and gold-filled accents. This adorable piece retails at an easy-peasy $22. Laura makes her baby line in four different sizes to accessorize any sweet pea of just about any age.
The Company
Gems by Laura is a small shop, owned and operated by a momma of two. If you check out the website, you’ll find that she aims for good ol’ happiness and high quality. There are a few pieces I have in mind, both baby and adult, that I would love to add to our collection! Her jewelry pieces offer the cutest matching “mommy and me” moments in the most subtle way! Check out this small shop, it certainly won’t disappoint.
